Purchaser agrees to NEVER give FIP vaccines to your kitten. It is extremely important to find a vet that is familiar with the Sphynx breed! Sphynx have been known to have adverse reactions to vaccinations for FeL/FIV. Breeder is not held responsible for any warranty for Kitten/Cat against any adverse reactions to these or any other future vaccinations. Breeder does not advise any of their Kittens/Cats be vaccinated for FIP, Ringworm, or Giardia. FIP vaccines are often times can be fatal if your cat has ever been exposed to the coronavirus, which 90% of cats in a multiple cat household have been. They will break out with the fatal form of FIP if given the vaccine. There is no known treatment for FIP and it is fatal. Purchaser agrees and understands that if any of these vaccines are given at any time throughout the life of the Kitten/Cat then the health guarantee and contract is void.
The purchaser understands that it is REQUIRED that all current cats owned in the Purchaser’s home should be combo tested for FIV/Leukemia BEFORE bringing in their new sphynx kitten. This also applies for any outdoor cats that may come into the home and come into contact with your sphynx. This combo test is a quick blood test usually costing around 40 dollars that can be completed within 20 min. at your vet’s office. By not following this requirement Purchaser is aware that they may be putting their Sphynx at risk of contracting FIV and or Leukemia and understands the health guarantee is void.
Purchaser agrees to NEVER DE-CLAW any sphynx Kitten/Cat from Furless Feline Cattery. De-clawing cats can have many horrible side effects, please research this and use nail caps or clip nails often. Provide cat trees & scratch pads!
The Purchaser understands that degrees of hairlessness in Sphynx vary from cat to cat and that no Sphynx is completely hairless. It is understood that hormones, climate, and genetics play an important role in hairlessness and that even though a Sphynx kitten may be almost hairless when sold, it is possible that said kitten could develop some hair after being neutered/spayed or as it grows older. It is also impossible to guarantee that any Sphynx Kitten/Cat will not grow some hair at some point in the future.

Kitten Care Food Royal Canin Kitten Canned Food: Kittens will eat ½ - ¾ of wet food (3 oz. can) at 8 am and 5:30 pm. Kittens need to have canned food until they are 8 months old or older. Royal Canin Dry Kitten Food: Always leave dry food out and available for the kittens. Sphynx kittens and cats have a very high metabolism and eat frequently. Kittens/Cats will know when to stop eating. Water: Leave water available at all time for the kitten. Sphynx kittens/cats drink a lot more water than other animals. Probiotics: Add 1/8 of the package of Fortiflora to their canned food in the morning. This will help with gastrointestinal issues that Sphynx are prone to and will also help prevent diarrhea. You can use any type of Probiotics that you want, but we recommend Fortiflora (3 packages are sent home with you in the kitten package). Hygiene Nail Care: Nails need to be trimmed once a week. Cut nails with a kitten nail clipper. If you do not have any available, you can use baby nail clippers.Wipe down the nail with a wipe (you can use the ear wipes that are available in your care package). Pull the skin surrounding the nail completely back and clean the oil between the nail and the skin. Clean between their toes too. Oil tend to build up on their nails, nail bed and between their toes. Do not ever declaw your kitten. Ear Care: Do not ever use a Q-tip on your kitten/cat. Q-tips can harm their ear canal damage their hearing and cause a break in their skin which can lead to an infection. Use the wipes in your kitten carepackage to clean their ears. Sphynx have a lot of oil in their ear canal. If there is any green or yellow drainage, notify me and your veterinarian immediately. Eye Care: Kittens will have “eye buggers” or discharge every morning. Do not be alarmed, wipe their eye with a tissue. If eyes become red or if there is a change (green or yellow color change) in their eye drainage notify me and your veterinarian immediately.
Bath Time: Fill your kitchen sink or bathtub with Lukewarm water, fill the tub 5-10 inches. Do not put soap or anything else in the tub. Get a washcloth, towel and shirt/sweater ready. Be very calm because Sphynx take a while to get used to bathing and many will fight you. Do not leave the water running because this will alarm them. Put them in the water gently and use a cup and get them covered in water. Take the Burt’s Bees Kitten wash and sud the soap in your hand or in the washcloth. I prefer to use my hands and then I use a cloth to get off remaining dirt/oil. Dry the kitten with a towel, they will become extremely cold because they do not have any fur. Dry them off with the towel, put on their clean shirt and wrap them in a blanket or dry towel. Kittens need to be bathed once a week. Adult cats need to be bathed once a month. I recommend putting a sweater on your cat to absorb the excess oil. For new Sphynx owners, Sphynx cats will be “oily” as kittens, but once they meet maturity, their pH will balance out and your cat will not have excess oil or smell. Between baths you can use a baby wipe to wipe them down. Bed Time: Sphynx kittens/cats love to sleep in a warm location and comfy spot. You can buy them a cat bed and wrap them in a blanket. Do not ever cage your kitten/cat. We raise the kittens to play at 8pm and then go to bed around 9-10pm. If they wake up and want to play at night, redirect them to go back to sleep. Simply wrap them in a blanket and take the toys/distractions away. Do not encourage play time during the night because they can quickly get in a habit that they want to wake-up for play time every night. Vaccinations Your kitten is completely vaccinated when they go home. When you bring your kitten to the veterinarian be sure you discuss this with them before they receive their vaccinations. Some of our kittens/cats have had a reaction to vaccines, that is why we give their complete kitten vaccinations when they are in our care. They will need their next set of vaccinations when they are 12 months old. DO NOT GIVE your kitten a FIP, Ringworm, or Giardia vaccines. Sphynx have been known to have adverse reactions to vaccinations for FeL/FIV. You can opt to not give your kitten/cat Fel/FIV, we recommend that they only receive one-dose when they are a kitten and in our care. After, your cat receives their vaccinations, be sure to stay home the day and night of their first-year vaccines. Watch closely for any changes in their breathing and change in their alertness. The Sphynx will not feel very well after they receive their vaccines, but it essential to watch them close for any adverse reactions. Microchipped Your kitten is microchipped. A microchip is inserted into their back when they are spayed/neutered. You will need to go in and register your kitten to you as the owner. Follow the link on your microchip package to add yourself as the owner. If a cat/kitten is lost or stolen and someone brings the cat to the veterinarian will scan them and notify you on their location. Potty Trained When your kitten comes home, they will be litter trained. We work diligently with our mother Queens to ensure your kitten is both litter trained and comfortable using different litter boxes. I recommend a non-dust forming, clumping litter. You do not have to use an expensive litter or litter box. The kittens are trained to use a non-covered litter box with litter from a local grocery store. The kittens are also trained to use a covered litter box, so if you want to purchase the expensive litter robots, they will be comfortable using it. Toys Sphynx love to play with toys. Laser toys that move around in a circle can amuse cats/kittens for days. You can purchase balls or anything that moves; they love to chase things and play. It is imperative to play with your kitten daily to get their energy and playtime in, this helps socialize them and enjoy life, creating healthy and mentally-well pets. Cat Trees, Cat Shelves, and Boxes You may want to purchase a cat tree or build cat shelves. Sphynx love to be elevated, jump, and play. You will not need one until they are at least 6-9 months old. Some people make unique shelving on the walls or get a cat window seat. You do not need anything expensive, but you can be creative. I used an old recliner with a blanket for one of my Sphynx to look at the window as the curious Sphynx loves to look out the window. If you have a couch by a window, you may just want to put a cat bed or a blanket to make your cat comfortable while protecting your furniture. HCM Scan Sphynx and many other breeds are prone to HCM which is HypertrophicObstructive Cardiomyopathy. I recommend asking, your veterinarian to listen closely for a heart murmur or skipping beats when you bring the kitten to the veterinarian. We scan all our adults when they are 12 months and annually to ensure HCM does not get into lineage (pass on to kittens), but HCM can affect any Sphynx. We recommend scanning (echocardiogram) when they are 12 months old and annually. It is required to scan your kitten when they are 2 years old to adhere to our contract. Your kitten is guaranteed until he/she is 3 years old not to have HCM. If your kitten has HCM there are tests to verify HCM, but if he/she does have the devastating disease we will replace your kitten with a new kitten if diagnosed in the prescribed 3 year period. No monetary funds will be exchanged.
